Sorting and disposal

The instruction

Every textile article sold on this site, without exception, goes to a textile collection point — including if it is worn out, torn, stained or missing a fastening. It does not go in household waste.

Collection points accept clothing, household linen and footwear. Articles should be clean and dry, and bagged. Footwear should be tied together in pairs.

Triman

Since 1 February 2023 the Triman marking and its accompanying sorting information are mandatory on textiles, household linen and footwear placed on the French market. Both are printed on the label of every article sold here, alongside the composition label.

The marking signals that the article is subject to a sorting rule. The accompanying information — reproduced above — states what that rule is. Neither is a statement about the environmental qualities of the article, and neither should be read as one.

Producer responsibility

Textiles are a category subject to extended producer responsibility in France. The producer registers with the authority, receives a unique identifier, and publishes it.

Every product page, in the producer responsibility block, together with the environmental characteristics required for that article.

Environmental characteristics published per article

Alongside the identifier, each product page publishes three structured facts required for the article:

• the proportion of recycled material incorporated, as a percentage by weight;
• whether the supplier has declared any substance of very high concern present above 0.1% by weight;
• the sorting instruction that applies at end of use.

These are published as required, and they are the only environmental information the site carries. We draw no further conclusion from them and neither should the reader.

What we do not operate

This site runs no take-back scheme, no garment return programme and no points scheme tied to disposal. That is a deliberate choice: a take-back scheme invites a claim about what happens to the material afterwards, and we are not in a position to verify what happens to a garment once it leaves us. Rather than make a claim we cannot stand behind, we point you to the public collection network, which is audited independently of us.

Finding a collection point

Collection points are distributed across France in public spaces, retail sites and municipal waste centres. Your commune's website lists the points nearest to you. If you cannot find one, write to support@ecclo.store with your postcode and we will look it up with you.
