- Re-carding shortens the wool fibre, so this yarn sheds more in its first few wears than a virgin-wool jumper and pills sooner at the underarm and cuff. It cannot be sold as virgin wool and is not labelled as such. The 30% conventional wool restores enough fibre length for the knit to hold its stitch definition.
